"Many observations can find their way into a quick sketch. What I see, what I hear, my temperament, whatever I'm thinking or feeling ends up articulated in the paint. The particular focus does shift to different perspectives through time. That being said light and shade are a consistent theme, it's the two side of the same coin, The Sun giving light, such a fundamental part of life, whilst the world is always half in its own shadow. Its play and rest, joy and pain, the metaphors are rich and abundant in playing with the idea of light and shade. But, sometimes I’m simply playing with paint.”
